If you want a Wheaten, do your research. The
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America
(SCWTCA) has a wealth of information for the prospective Wheaten owner.
First, you should learn something about the characteristics of the breed. The best way to do that is to attend a dog show and meet Wheaten breeders and fanciers. Our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Northern California (SCWTCNC)has a list of upcoming dog shows in California. Click on the show name and then the "Premium List" for information about finding and attending the show. In addition to talking to knowledgable Wheaten people, you can read the character page at SCWTCA. It is important to get a Wheaten that has had the advantage of a reputable breeder introducing him or her to the first few weeks of their lives. Weeks 4-16 of a new puppy's life are incredibly important to the development of the dog. Here is what you can expect from a good breeder. |
